The 2025 Annual Conference of The Network: TUFH is planned to take place September 12-15, 2025. Co-host by Woods System of Care, and the Mollie Woods Hare Global Center of Excellence.

TUFH 2025 will be the fourth fully hybrid annual conference.

Ubuntu 2024 - Banner

Ubuntu 2024 is a joint conference between The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH) and Rural WONCA (The Working Party on Rural Practice). It’s bringing together the TUFH 2024 Annual Conference for TUFH, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2024, and the 20th WONCA World Rural Health Conference!

The 2024 Annual Conference of The Network: TUFH was the third hybrid conference held from September 10-13th, 2024.

This conference is being co-hosted by 5 partners in Cape Town, South Africa:

University of the Western Cape; University of Cape Town; Stellenbosch University; Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and the Department of Health and Wellness – Western Cape Government.

The theme was People, Place, and Policy for Community Wellness.

The 4 subthemes of TUFH 2024 were:

  • Building Equity for Rural Health
  • Community Engagement for Local and Global Health
  • Social and Health Policies for the Public Good
  • Educating the Health Workforce

The 2023 Annual Conference of The Network: TUFH is planned to take place October 23-26, 2023. The co-host was the University of Sharjah.

The theme of TUFH 2023 was Beyond Bounderies: Health Equity through a Culture of Learning.

TUFH 2023 was a Conference that brought together an international audience to discuss and further explore the four sub-themes of:

  • How the Community learns
  • How Healthcare Practitioners learn
  • How Students learn
  • How Policymakers learn

TUFH 2023 was the second fully hybrid annual conference.

The 2022 Annual Conference of The Network: TUFH was the first hybrid conference held from August 16-19th, 2022.
The co-hosts were the Rural Coordination Centre of BC and the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.
The theme was Moving Forward Together: Unity for Health for All.

The 4 subthemes of TUFH 2022 were:

  • Building Better Together
  • Harmony for a Healthy World
  • Social Responsibility: Healthcare Conducted Where People and Place Matter
  • Learning with Indigenous Peoples Towards Advancing Equity & Wellbeing

The TUFH 2022 DECLARATION was the outcome.

The 2021 Annual Conference of The Network: TUFH was held virtually July 20th – 23rd, 2021. The host was the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada. The theme of TUFH 2021 was Enhancing Interprofessional Collaboration and Learning for Strengthening Primary Health Care.

TUFH2021 was a Conference that brought together an international audience to discuss and further explore the four sub-themes of:

– Community-Based Education for Health and Social Care Students

– High-Quality Learning and Collaborations in the Health Workforce

– What can we Learn from your Primary Health Care Practice and Experiences?

– Innovative Ways for Community Mobilization and Engagement of Stakeholders

TUFH 2021 was the second fully virtual annual conference, because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. At this conference the second Solutions Challenge Pre-Conference day was held with professionals and students all working together.

The 2020 Annual Conference of The Network: TUFH was the first fully virtual conference held from September 23-25th, 2020. The host was the Facultad De Medicina, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. The theme was Primary Health Care: A Path Towards Social Justice; Systems and Community Based Responses for COVID 19. The 4 subthemes of TUFH 2020 were: – Intersectoral Collaborations and the Social Determinants of Health – Measuring Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals – Working with Underserved Populations towards Community Empowerment – Building the Capacity of Future Leaders in a Socially Accountable World The TUFH 2020 MEXICO DECLARATION was the outcome. TUFH 2020 was the first virtual edition as we were all faced with the Pandemic of COVID-19. At TUFH 2020 there were several Spanish sessions. #TUFH2020

The 2019 Annual Conference of The Network: TUFH was held from September 10-13, 2019 in Darwin, Australia.
It was the 40th anniversary for The Network: TUFH.
The co-host was Flinders University in the Northern Territory. 
The theme was Social Accountability: from Evidence to Action.

The 4 subthemes of TUFH 2019 were:

  • First Nations Health
  • Remote and Rural Health
  • Interprofessional Education and Practice
  • Future Leaders in Socially Accountable Education and Research

The TUFH 2019 DECLARATION was the outcome.
