The Communities of Practice for Remote and Rural Health is part of The Network: Towards Unity for Health’s commitment to strengthening health systems for the world’s most vulnerable populations. Remote and rural communities across many regions face geographic isolation, workforce shortages, and limited access to essential services. TUFH’s moral mission is to help mend these inequities by mobilizing global experts, evidence, and practical solutions.

Through its Global Communities of Practice platform, TUFH convenes specialists, practitioners, researchers, and institutions working in Remote and Rural Health to collaborate on original content, shared learning, and context-relevant action.

TUFH is proud to partner with the WONCA Working Party on Rural Practice (Rural WONCA), the lead partner in our Remote and Rural Health collaboration and a global leader in advancing rural practice, rural health education, and international exchange across the primary care workforce. Through its worldwide network and long-standing commitment to rural health, Rural WONCA brings vital leadership, global visibility, and field-based insight to this Communities of Practice. Together with our wider group of partners, we are shaping the Remote and Rural Health paper, strengthening global learning, and supporting training and collaboration that build a more connected and responsive workforce for remote and rural communities worldwide.

TUFH is proud to partner with the National Center for Rural Health Professions, alongside our other Remote and Rural Health partners, to strengthen education, workforce development, and policy engagement for underserved communities. With a mission centered on improving the health and well-being of rural communities through education, workforce development, community partnerships, and policy, NCRHP adds strong academic and practical depth to this Communities of Practice. Together, we are advancing shared learning, contributing to the Remote and Rural Health paper, and supporting initiatives that help prepare health professionals to serve remote and rural populations more effectively.

TUFH is proud to partner with the Rural Coordination Centre of British Columbia, as part of our broader partnership for Remote and Rural Health, to strengthen relationship-based and community-informed approaches to rural health systems. RCCbc’s work connects rural citizens, clinicians, Indigenous leaders, and policymakers while building collaboration and improving the health of rural people and communities across British Columbia. Together with our partner network, we are deepening shared learning, informing the Remote and Rural Health paper, and supporting approaches that strengthen rural health equity through community connection, education, and collaboration.

TUFH is proud to partner with RDN – The Charity for Health Access, alongside our other Remote and Rural Health partners, to advance practical solutions that improve access to care in under-resourced communities. Through its social enterprises and collaborative model, RDN works across health and social care to build capacity, mobilise knowledge, and deliver services that support rural, remote, regional, and Indigenous communities. Together, we are contributing to a stronger global foundation for Remote and Rural Health by sharing knowledge, informing the paper, and supporting action that improves access and outcomes for communities too often left behind.

At the TUFH 2026 Conference, we are proud to host a dedicated Remote and Rural Health Summit as a core part of the program agenda, co-hosted by the WONCA Working Party on Rural Practice (Rural WONCA), with valued partnership from the National Center for Rural Health Professions, the Rural Coordination Centre of British Columbia, and RDN – The Charity for Health Access. This focused track will highlight the most pressing challenges and innovative solutions in remote and rural health through keynote speeches, oral presentations, interactive workshops, and a high-level panel discussion. The Summit provides a platform for global experts, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to share insights and co-design approaches that strengthen access to care and health outcomes for remote and rural communities worldwide. Register for TUFH 2026 today, and be sure to submit an abstract on Remote and Rural Health for the opportunity to be considered for presentation.
