The Communities of Practice for Disaster Mental Health is part of The Network: Towards Unity for Health’s commitment to strengthening health systems for the world’s most vulnerable populations. Individuals and communities affected by disasters often face trauma, displacement, disruption of services, and limited access to mental health support. TUFH’s moral mission is to help address these challenges by mobilizing global experts, evidence, and practical solutions.
Through its Global Communities of Practice platform, TUFH convenes specialists, practitioners, researchers, and institutions working in Disaster Mental Health to collaborate on original content, shared learning, and context-relevant action.
TUFH is proud to partner with Languages of Care, a global initiative dedicated to improving communication, cultural understanding, and trust within healthcare systems. Their work in bridging language gaps and fostering compassionate, person-centered care is especially critical in disaster and crisis contexts, where clear communication and cultural sensitivity are essential to effective mental health support.
Their expertise in language access, training, and global collaboration significantly enhances the depth and impact of our Communities of Practice. Together, we are advancing approaches to disaster mental health that prioritize communication, cultural competence, and equitable access to care, while developing resources and training that support a more responsive and compassionate global health workforce.
